The Jingle Farm

The Jingle Farm is located on the Western outskirts of Petaluma, California. Petaluma is situated just North of San Francisco and about 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Although the character of the town is changing and becoming more urbanized, many of its early agricultural roots remain and thrive.

Originally it was known for its cash crops such as potatoes, but its real claim to fame grew with the discovery of the chicken incubator. It quickly became known for its chicken and egg production and was called the "Egg Basket of the World". Today the largest structures in town remaining are the grain elevators. Now the area supports local dairies, small organic farms, sheep producers, vineyards and cheese producers.

I myself, developed an interest in the dairy industry, but several years ago stumbled on the American Blackbelly Sheep. I found that they do a good job in keeping pastures down so as to minimize fire hazards and are good eat`n as well. We are trying to improve the herd as to create the Jingle Farm "look". They are well cared for and their comfort and well-being are of
primary concern.

Visitors are welcome. If there is enough to go around,
lambs can be purchased from time to time. As with the
modern trend toward organic farming, we try to
minimize the use of antibiotics and feed only quality
grain and hay when required as a supplement.

If you have questions regarding the care, feeding and management
of this breed please feel free to drop a note, and we will try to give you
prompt answers. In addition, visit the
Barbados Blackbelly Sheep Association website for further
information about the sheep.
